Event Details

The death of prehistoric organisms is captured in the geologic record and these remains play an important role in geology. Aaron Bierly, senior geoscientist with the Bureau of Geological Survey, will share how scientists learn about ancient environments, as well as how the corpses of prehistoric life are utilized in our society today.

Topics discussed in the program will include fossilization, the types of rocks that hold fossil remains, fossils that capture the exact moment of death, and how those fossiliferous rocks are utilized in our society.
