Event Details

Pennsylvania’s name means Penn’s Woods. There are over 16.6 million acres of forest in the Commonwealth. Trees produce oxygen, filter out pollutants in the air, reduce erosion and pollution to waterways and are beautiful. Find out more about the Eastern Hemlock, a slow-growing conifer tree that has filled Pennsylvania forests for hundreds of years and was chosen as a state symbol.

This free program is presented in partnership with Dauphin County Library System and hosted at George & Hettie Love Memorial Library. Pre-registration is required and limited. Registration opens 10am Monday, October 19, 2026.

The State Museum is all about Pennsylvania. Explore topics related to the commonwealth’s history, natural history, art, and science. Programs are designed for pre-K through Grade 2. Museum Educators will provide instruction, hands-on opportunities and activities.
