Event Details

Though legislatively created in 1995, the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is composed of conservation programs that reach back into the 1800s— programs that today include 125 state parks, 2.4 million acres of state forests, geologic and satellite land mapping; and grant programs that have helped build an expansive statewide network of recreational lands, trails, greenways, and municipal parks.

Join Paul Zeph, DCNR Historian, to learn why events that took place over 150 years ago led to Pennsylvania being called the “Cradle of Conservation” today; and how DCNR currently impacts the lives of millions of Pennsylvanians through its programs that support outdoor recreation, wildlife habitat, forest resource management, environmental education, rivers conservation, and cultural heritage.

Presentations begin at 12:00 PM and are followed by a question-and-answer session. Registration is required to attend the free, virtual program. Click here to register now.
