Event Details

The State Museum’s “Revolutionary Things” exhibition celebrates Pennsylvania’s pivotal role in the American War for Independence and the centuries of commemoration that followed. The exhibition highlights over 140 artifacts from the museum’s collection, including a portrait of George Washington, an iconic history painting featuring Betsy Ross, and the “Spirit of Independence” Bicentennial print series. Sherman Notestine’s illuminated Declaration of Independence, a loaned exhibition installed in the museum’s Brockerhoff house, memorializes this significant text.

Join Amy Hammond, Senior Curator of Cultural History at The State Museum of Pennsylvania, as she discusses how artists have commemorated history and reflected on the meaning of independence.

Presentations begin at 12:15 PM and are followed by a question-and-answer session. Registration is required to attend the free, virtual program. Click here to register now.
