Homeschool Program

In order to dig into the past, archaeologists have to dig in the dirt. The layers of dirt provide essential information about the site during the time the soil layers were formed. Get hands-on and dig into the science of dirt to discover what the color and texture of soil can reveal about an archaeological site. This program registration is closed.  Museum curators and educators from The State Museum will lead seven programs designed specifically for Homeschool families. Families will experience a guided gallery tour and discussion about the day’s topic, then participate in a hands-on family activity. These programs will give homeschooled students and their families an opportunity to engage with museum staff, ask questions, and work together. After the program, families may continue exploring the museum and enjoy Q & A with staff. Each program begins at 10:00AM and is expected to last 2 hours. Programs will be open for a limited number of participants. Registration and pre-payment is required.

$5 per participant for State Museum Affiliate Members per program $10 per participant for non-Members per program

At least one adult is required to register with each family. All program participants must pay a fee regardless of age. Fees are non-refundable. Deadline to register is 12Noon the day prior to each program.
