Geoffrey Beadle, Erie  – First Place Award for Works on Paper

In a series of portraits of myself and my immediate family, I record my sitters’ likenesses while striving to reveal interior characteristics simultaneously. For me these portraits are reverential, documentary, and sometimes confrontational in both design and conceptual intent.  Although each subject is comprised of multiple visual sources, I intentionally obscure this process of compilation, attempting to create images that are seamlessly unified and convincingly real.

Greg Rohrer, Harrisburg  – Art of the State Purchase Award

I’m fascinated with industrial scenes. I love looking at factories, water towers, vents, air filters, smoke stacks, storage tanks, smoke, steam, etc. I’m curious about the purpose of these structures. With a mix of realism and abstraction, I try to impress upon the viewer the same excitement and wonder I feel when looking at such a scene. I’m inspired by many artist and art movements, especially Precisionism.
