Homeschool Program: Ecology of the Susquehanna River

Wednesday, September 18 10AM – 12Noon                                                               Bad weather date Wednesday, September 25.

The Susquehanna River is the nation’s sixteenth largest river and is the largest river in the United States that flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Originating in Otsego Lake near Cooperstown, New York, it flows 444 miles through Pennsylvania, until it empties into the Chesapeake Bay at Havre de Grace, Maryland. The Susquehanna is the largest source of fresh water to the Chesapeake Bay, supplying one-half of the freshwater flow. Take a walk by the Susquehanna River with museum educators and curators, led by Dr. Walter Meshaka, Jr. Senior Curator of Zoology and Botany, to learn about ecological importance of the river for the plants, animals and humans that inhabit Pennsylvania today and in the past.
