Many Pennsylvanians are unaware that the Commonwealth is home to three lagomorph (rabbit and hare) species, the common eastern cottontail, the Appalachian cottontail and the more elusive and rarer snowshoe hare. The threat of rabbit hemorrhagic disease poses a significant risk to all domestic and wild lagomorph species throughout North America. Join us as we talk to Emily Boyd, small game mammal biologist for the Pennsylvania Game Commission, about the three Pennsylvania species and the ongoing research to improve management and promote the continued presence of all lagomorph species for future generations of Pennsylvanians.
Presentations begin at 12:15 PM and will last approximately 20 minutes followed by a question and answer session.
The Learn at Lunchtime programs are presented over Zoom and are free, but registration is required. Once registration is complete, attendees will receive an attendance link and password for the program.
